At the Chinese Foreign Ministry's regular press briefing on Tuesday, a reporter claimed that over the past two weeks, China-Japan relations have continued to deteriorate, the Chinese government has suspended the approval process for the release of Japanese films in China, and more than 20 concerts by Japanese musicians have been canceled in several Chinese cities, including Beijing. The reporter asked whether this is a retaliatory measure by the Chinese government against Japan, whether there are any official directives or guidelines regarding Japanese cultural imports and how long the suspension of film and performance screenings is expected to last.

In response, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning said that recent exchanges and cooperation between China and Japan have been affected by Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi's erroneous remarks regarding China's Taiwan, which have severely hurt the feelings of the Chinese people and worsened the atmosphere for China-Japan exchanges. Japan should immediately correct its erroneous words and actions and stop creating trouble on issues related to China, Mao stated.
