The hills of Guling hold countless touching stories of friendship between China and the United States. As the Guling Forum is going to happen in New York, we look back at these moving historical moments that span over a century.
The Trimble family's century-long bond with China began with educator Lydia Trimble, who founded a school in Fujian Province, China. Now, her descendant Gordon Trimble and his wife Sonia have made multiple trips to Fuzhou with a commitment to long-term people-to-people exchange between the US and China. At a customs checkpoint, Sonia simply said in Minnan dialect, "I'm so happy to come home." That phrase, spoken in her native dialect, serves as a living archive of memory and a testament to enduring friendship.
