Asked about risks brought by unilateral measures like economic sanctions imposed by some countries in recent years against countries such as Russia, China and Iran on Thursday, which marks the International Day Against Unilateral Coercive Measures, China's Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian said that unilateral coercive measures run counter to the purposes and principles of the UN Charter, undermine multilateralism and the foundations of international rule of law, seriously violate basic human rights such as the right to life and the right to development, and obstruct global development cooperation and the implementation of the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
Lin said that China opposes unilateral coercive measures and calls on the international community to strengthen unity and cooperation, jointly resist unilateralism, uphold an international system centered around the UN and the international order based on international law, and promote a more just and reasonable global governance.
