Apple will open a new retail store in Beijing on Saturday, its sixth in Beijing and the 49th in the Chinese mainland, marking another step by the US tech giant in tapping into the Chinese market of vast potential.
The new store is located on the first floor of Livat Centre Beijing in suburban Daxing district. The shopping mall covers a total area of about 550,000 square meters and hosts 402 stores, according to its website. Its parking facility, which has more than 7,050 spaces, won the Guinness Record title for "World's biggest underground parking lot."
Still, Shanghai has the largest number of Apple retail stores nationwide, with a total of eight.
Apple's sales in China in October grew by 37 percent year-on-year, according to a report by Counterpoint Research released on November 18, 2025. Chinese domestic brands also shored up the smartphone market, as Xiaomi's early launch of its latest series, coupled with its broad portfolio, allowed it to capture the No.2 spot domestically for the first time in over a decade. Oppo's smartphone sales saw a 19 percent rise in October, driven by strong demand for its devices targeting younger users, said the report.
A Reuters report on November 18 quoting analysts said that Apple could face challenges as Huawei's Mate 80 was released in late November.
