In response to a media inquiry regarding Canadian side's hype-up of the so-called "China cyberattacks," Chinese Embassy in Canada said on Friday that this case is a textbook example of the perpetrator pretending to be the victim, driven by an ulterior motive and China strongly opposes it.
"China urges the Canadian side to immediately stop following the US lead, stop the wrongful practice of politicizing and stigmatizing the issue of cybersecurity, and stop using cybersecurity issues to smear China," the embassy stressed in a statement.
Recently the Canadian Centre for Cyber Security, together with the US Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency and National Security Agency, released an analysis report claiming that China state-sponsored threat actors used Brickstorm malware for long-term persistence on the systems of government service and facilities and information technology sector organizations.
The embassy pointed out that it is widely known that the US is the undisputed hacking empire, the mastermind behind cyberattacks, and the biggest threat to global cybersecurity.
"This so-called analysis report ignores the rampant cyberattacks launched by the US while making unfounded accusations against China. It is a textbook example of the perpetrator pretending to be the victim, driven by an ulterior motive. China strongly opposes it," it stressed.
As one of the major victims of cyberattacks, China resolutely opposes and cracks down on all forms of cyberattacks in accordance with the law, and is firmly committed to safeguarding cybersecurity, said the embassy.
