Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun
Asked to comment on recent visits to China by the King of Spain and French President, as well as the ongoing visit by Germany's foreign minister, and about China's view on China-EU cooperation, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun said on Monday that since the beginning of this year, China has maintained frequent high-level exchanges with European countries, and the leaders of both sides have reached important consensus on further developing strategic partnerships and deepening mutually beneficial cooperation, providing strategic guidance.
At a time when the international situation is becoming increasingly turbulent, strengthened strategic communication and deepening dialogue and cooperation between China and Europe serve the interests of both sides and the wider world, said Guo.
Guo further noted that China is willing to work with the EU to implement the consensus reached by the leaders, enhance unity and coordination, and promote the sound and stable development of China-EU relations.
Both sides should jointly uphold multilateralism, support free trade, safeguard the post-World War II international order and international rules, oppose unilateralism and bullying actions, jointly address global challenges such as climate change, and improve global governance, so as to benefit the peoples of China and Europe, and inject more stability and predictability into a turbulent world, said the spokesperson.
