Guo Jiakun
In response to media reports that Liberal Democratic Party Vice President Taro Aso voiced support to Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi's Taiwan-related remarks, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun stated on Monday that the remarks of this Japanese politician reflect that Takaichi and the Japanese right-wing forces behind her are still misjudging the situation, refusing to repent, turning a deaf ear to criticisms both at home and abroad. They downplay, distort facts, and ignore right and wrong regarding acts of interfering in other countries' internal affairs and threatening other countries with force.
Guo added that they have shown no basic respect for international law and the fundamental norms governing international relations, and attempt to break through the post-war international order by inciting conflicts and confrontations, and to honor Japanese militarism. Asian neighboring countries and the international community should all remain highly vigilant against this.
Guo emphasized that it must be pointed out that such acts of provoking China to seek publicity and manipulate public opinion are vile in nature and extremely dangerous. We urge Japan to earnestly reflect on its mistakes and repent, sincerely retract Takaichi's wrong remarks, stop playing with fire, and refrain from going further down the wrong path, Guo said.
