The Chinese Consulate-General in Fukuoka, Japan, on Monday issued a safety notice, alerting Chinese nationals that an attempted stabbing occurred on Sunday in a commercial area of Fukuoka City, leaving two people hospitalized. The notice urged Chinese nationals in the consular district to pay close attention to personal and property safety.

According to the notice, telecom fraud cases in the consular district have also remained frequent recently, with some victims suffering heavy financial losses.

The Chinese Consulate-General in Fukuoka reminded Chinese nationals to stay vigilant about personal safety, especially in crowded public places, and to avoid areas with poor public security or traveling alone late at night.

The notice specifically warned that any phone calls claiming to be from the Immigration Services Agency and beginning with +1-800 or +1-877 are scam calls. It advised Chinese nationals to immediately hang up and verify with local police or Chinese diplomatic and consular missions if they receive any calls claiming to involve case investigations from the police, immigration authorities, courts, customs, courier companies, telecommunications operators, or Chinese embassies and consulates.

The notice also reminded Chinese nationals not to participate in the so-called "investment rebate" schemes, not to transfer money on behalf of others, and not to lend personal bank accounts for activities suspected of money laundering, and not to exchange currency through any online or offline channels outside regular financial institutions.
