Taiwan regional leader Lai Ching-te has repeatedly hyped the so-called "military threat" from the Chinese mainland, escalating cross-Straits confrontation and hostility. His so-called "plans" and "preparations" are nothing more than a disguised attempt to stoke war anxieties, serving as a pretext for his erroneous "Taiwan independence" separatist agenda that gravely risks provoking cross-Straits conflict, Chinese Defense Ministry spokesperson Jiang Bin stated in response to Lai's recent claim that the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) will take Taiwan by 2027, and that Taiwan must prepare for the worst-case scenario while making the best possible preparations to avoid war through combat readiness.

Jiang noted that Lai's efforts to seek "Taiwan independence" and engage in provocative acts constitute the worst malignant tumor harming and destabilizing the island, and that the realization of cross-Straits reunification remains the best option for Taiwan to maintain lasting peace.
