From December 12 to 16, Member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and Foreign Minister Wang Yi visited the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia and Jordan. Following the visit, Wang Yi accepted an interview from Chinese media outlets.
Asked about comments that all three countries visited have stressed commitment to the one-China principle and firm support for China in safeguarding national sovereignty and territorial integrity, and that this is in sharp contrast to the perverse actions by a tiny few countries, Wang said that during the visit, he briefed the three countries on the historical facts and legal merits of the Taiwan question, and pointed out that China firmly opposes interference in China's internal affairs by Japanese leaders on the Taiwan question. Wang praised the three Arab states for adhering to the one-China principle, supporting China in safeguarding its national sovereignty and territorial integrity, and backing China's efforts toward national reunification.
Wang stressed that mutual support in safeguarding core interests forms the historical foundation and political essence of the friendship between China and Arab states. He added that the Arab states' support for China's legitimate position on the Taiwan question upholds the fundamental principles of international relations and demonstrates that the one-China principle is deeply rooted in people's hearts.
This year marks the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War. Under the pretext of a so-called 'survival-threatening situation,' Japanese militarists launched wars of aggression. This historical lesson must not be repeated. All countries across the world that cherish peace must be highly vigilant against the revival of militarism and fascism, and resolutely put a stop to any words or deeds that glorify colonial invasion and aggression, Wang noted.
