A Chinese national in Cambodia’s Battambang Province sustained minor injuries after being caught in artillery fire related to clashes along the Cambodia-Thailand border on Monday. The Chinese Embassy in Cambodia has verified the situation through the individual’s employer and conveyed its sympathy, according to a release from the embassy.

The embassy once again urged Chinese citizens in border areas between Cambodia and Thailand to move to safe locations as soon as possible, and advised those in other parts of Cambodia to avoid traveling to border regions for the time being. In case of emergency, Chinese nationals are advised to contact local police promptly and seek assistance from the Chinese Embassy in Cambodia, according to the release.

A Chinese citizen was wounded on Monday morning when the Thai military forces fired artillery shells at residential areas in Cambodia's Battambang province, said a Cambodian Ministry of Interior's press release. "This incident resulted in one civilian house being completely destroyed and one Chinese national being injured," the press release said, according to the Xinhua News Agency.

The Cambodia-Thailand border conflict has reignited since December 7, and both sides have accused the other of initiating the attack, per Xinhua.
