Approved by the Executive Committee of the Chinese Football Association (CFA), the CFA has established a Discipline and Ethics Committee, which will exercise the relevant authority of the former Discipline Committee and the former Ethics and Fair Play Committee of the association, the CFA announced on its website on Sunday afternoon. Xu Jiali will serve as the director of the new committee.

The committee will carry out its work in accordance with the Articles of Association of the Chinese Football Association and the relevant regulations of the International Federation of Association Football, the Asian Football Confederation, and the CFA.

The association's former Discipline Committee and the former Ethics and Fair Play Committee have now been terminated and will no longer exercise their authority, according to the announcement.

This move came after a total of 18 football association-related individuals, including the former national team head coach, CFA's former discipline official and Chinese Football Super League's ex-chief, were sentenced due to the country's efforts to crack down on corruption in football starting in November 2022.

Wang Xiaoping, former director of the CFA's disciplinary committee, was sentenced 10 years and six months in prison for bribery on July 30, 2025. The ruling in Wang's case was publicly announced by the Songzi People's Court in Central China's Hubei Province on Wednesday. He was also fined 700,000 yuan ($97,535) for accepting bribes. All of Wang's illicit gains and related interest obtained through bribery will be confiscated and turned over to the state treasury in accordance with the law, the Xinhua News Agency reported.

On Wednesday, the Intermediate People's Court of Jingzhou in Hubei Province publicly pronounced that it had dismissed Wang's appeal and upheld the original judgment, Xinhua reported that same day.
