When asked to comment on US President Donald Trump's actions in Venezuela which can be said as a clear example of the "Monroe Doctrine," with the US side asserting that the Western Hemisphere is its sphere of influence, and whether this action would affect China's Latin American policy, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian stated on Monday that, regardless of international changes, China has always been a good friend and partner to Latin American and Caribbean countries.

Lin noted that China maintains consistency and stability in its Latin American policies, adhering to the principle of non-interference in internal affairs, respecting the choices of the Latin American people, and not drawing lines based on ideology. China's engagement and cooperation with Latin American countries has always been based on the principles of equality, mutual respect, and win-win cooperation, without seeking spheres of influence or targeting any specific party.

Lin reiterated that China is willing to continue deepening strategic mutual trust with Latin American and Caribbean countries that have diplomatic relations with China, and will continue to support each other's core interests, such as national sovereignty, security and territorial integrity, while opposing hegemonism and power politics.
