When asked how China-South Korea relations would change after South Korea President Lee Jae-myung said Monday that he hopes ties between South Korea and China will enter a new stage, Chinese FM spokesperson Mao Ning said that China and South Korea are close neighbors and cooperation partners, and that promoting sound and stable development of bilateral relations serves the fundamental interests of both countries and their peoples.

China is willing to work with South Korea in the same direction to deliver more tangible results in bilateral ties in the new year, Mao added.

According to Xinhua News Agency, Lee arrived in Beijing on Sunday for a state visit to China from January 4 to 7.
