The US forcibly seizing Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and his wife and taking them out of the country sparked high concern on the Taiwan island. When asked to comment on a report by the Time magazine saying that what Taiwan should truly be concerned about is  a prolonged Venezuelan entanglement could consume American attention and make Taiwan lose the US's support, and claiming that China doesn't need international precedent to take action, Zhu Fenglian, a spokesperson for the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, said on Wednesday that Taiwan is a part of China. The Taiwan question is China's internal affair.

How to resolve the Taiwan question is solely a matter of the Chinese people, and it is a just cause to safeguard national sovereignty and territorial integrity. "Foreign support is unreliable," and the DPP authorities' "relying on foreign support to seek independence" will only lead them to become "abandoned pawns" of external forces, the spokesperson added.
