When asked by the media about US President Donald Trump's claims that he may "take very strong action" against Iran, and how China views such claims, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning said that China has repeatedly stated its position on the situation in Iran.

"China supports and hopes that the Iranian government and people can overcome the current difficulties and safeguard national stability. At the same time, China opposes external forces interfering in a country's internal affairs and does not support the use or threat of force in international relations," said Mao, noting that China hopes all parties will do more to contribute to peace and stability in the Middle East.
