Some Chinese media outlets reported on Thursday that the Chinese app "Sileme," which literally translates as "are you dead," has been delisted from the app stores of Apple and Andriod. The Global Times searched on both the Android and Apple app stores, finding that the app is not searchable or available for download.

Many similar apps have also appeared, such as "Alive Yet? - Dead Yet? SMS Version", "Dead Yet? Drift Version", and others.

According to a report by ZMG News, it contacted one of the founders of the app, surnamed Guo, learning that the app has been removed from the app stores.

Also on Thursday, the app official account posted on Sina Weibo that "Starting Weibo daily check-in Day 1," along with the topics "#Except for Life and Death, Everything Else Is Trivial#" and "#Reporting Safety#," accompanied by a selfie.

The app team described the app as "a lightweight safety tool for solo dwellers." On Sileme, a user can simply check in daily with one click, and Sileme silently monitors the user's status. If the user fails to check in within the app's timeframe, the app can automatically notify the user's emergency contact, the company said.

On Wednesday, Sileme announced on its official Weibo account that it is inviting the public to propose a new Chinese name. One day earlier, the app said that after careful internal deliberation, it will officially adopt the global brand name Demumu in its upcoming new version.
