The relationship between Russia and China is unprecedented in both its level and depth, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said at a Tuesday press conference reviewing the work of Russian diplomacy in 2025, TASS reported on Tuesday.

According to Lavrov, the two countries are in the alignment of positions regarding developments in Eurasia and on the global stage as a whole.

In regards with Russia-China relations, Russian President Vladimir Putin said during a press conference on December 19, 2025, that Russia-China relations serve as a key factor in global stability and Russia will continue to develop its relations with China in both the near and longer term, RIA Novosti reported.

The annual press conference reviewing the work of Russian diplomacy in 2025 was held at a time when differences between the US and the Europe over the issue of Greenland were growing. The US has sought to stress the necessity of seizing the island by using other countries.

In response, Lavrov also said during the press conference that “Even the West is already denying a threat to Greenland from Russia and China; there is no such evidence,” TASS reported on Tuesday.

At the same time, Lavrov described the Greenland issue as an example of crisis trends within Western society. According to Lavrov, it was previously hard to imagine that discussions surrounding Greenland would raise questions about the preservation of NATO’s unity, according to vesti.ru.
