Spokesperson for China's State Council Taiwan Affairs Office Peng Qing'en
China firmly opposes any form of official exchanges between countries that have diplomatic relations with China and the Taiwan region. The one-China principle is a basic norm governing international relations and a widely recognized consensus of the international community, Peng Qing'en, a spokesperson for the State Council Taiwan Affairs Office, said on Wednesday at a regular press conference.
The remarks were made when asked to comment on reports by some foreign media outlets that China is pressuring European countries to ban Taiwan region’s political figures from entering their territories, and that Taiwan relevant authorities have responded with accusations and smears.
“The Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) authorities’ small maneuvers cannot shake the prevailing international commitment to the one-China framework,” Peng added.
