When asked to comment on reports that North Korea launched ballistic missiles into the eastern waters yesterday afternoon, and South Korea, the US, and Japan stated that this action violates UN Security Council resolutions, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun said on Wednesday that "We have noted that the parties concerned have different views regarding the definition of the launched objects." We hope that the relevant parties will face up to the root causes of the Korean Peninsula issue, adhere to the general direction of political settlement, and make efforts to safeguard regional peace and stability, the spokesperson added.
