When asked by a Global Times reporter about Taiwan media citing military sources to claim that the Taiwan military plans to move HIMARS systems forward to Penghu and Dongyin, paired with tactical missiles with a range of up to 300 kilometers, which would allow strikes to reach Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) naval ports, missile bases and airports in Fujian and Zhejiang provinces, Ministry of National Defense spokesperson Jiang Bin said that "Taiwan independence" armed forces are like an ant trying to shake a giant tree when facing the PLA, grossly overestimating their own capabilities.

Jiang said they are deluding themselves into using US-made weapons to bolster their courage, provoke confrontation and stir up conflict, and that such actions will ultimately lead to their own destruction.
