At the invitation of Chinese President Xi Jinping, President of the Oriental Republic of Uruguay Yamandu Orsi arrived in Beijing on Sunday for a seven-day state visit to China, Xinhua News Agency reported Sunday.

This is President Orsi's first state visit to China, according to the Chinese foreign ministry. During the visit, President Xi will hold talks with Orsi to engage in in-depth discussions on deepening the China-Uruguay comprehensive strategic partnership, advancing high-quality Belt and Road cooperation, and exchanging views on international and regional issues of mutual interest, according to Chinese foreign ministry. 

China looks forward to and believes that, under the strategic guidance of the two heads of state, this visit will play a positive role in further advancing the development of the China-Uruguay comprehensive strategic partnership, said a spokesperson from the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
