China's Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM) said on Thursday that regarding the anti-dumping measures on Canadian canola, given the complexity of the case, the investigation period has been extended to March 9, 2026, and the ministry will issue an arbitration notice before that date.

MOFCOM spokesperson He Yadong made the remarks at a press briefing when asked when the ministry will announce tariff adjustments on Canadian canola and related agricultural products, and whether it can confirm media reports that the anti-dumping duty on Canadian canola will be set between 5.5 and 6 percent.

He noted that during Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney's visit to China in January, the two sides made specific arrangements to properly address economic and trade issues in areas including electric vehicles, steel and aluminum products, canola, as well as agricultural and aquatic products.

The spokesperson said that the Canadian side will make positive adjustments to the unilateral measures it has taken against Chinese electric vehicles, steel, aluminum, and other products, and that the Chinese side will accordingly adjust its anti-discrimination measures against Canada in accordance with relevant laws and regulations.

Regarding the anti-dumping measures on Canadian canola, the ministry will, within the framework of rules, fully consider Canada's reasonable concerns and make an objective and fair final ruling based on facts and evidence, the spokesperson said.
