Head-of-state diplomacy plays an irreplaceable strategic guiding role in China-US relations, Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Lin Jian said on Thursday. During the recent phone talks between the two heads of state, President Trump once again expressed his wish to visit China in April, and President Xi Jinping reiterated his invitation for President Trump’s visit to China. The two sides have maintained communication on this matter, Lin said in response to a question about reports saying that US President Donald Trump is expected to visit China and meet with Chinese leader, and the reports also said that the US side expects the tariff truce to be extended.

The essence of China-US economic and trade relations is mutual benefit and win-win cooperation. Both sides can work together to implement the consensus reached by the two heads of state, injecting more certainty and stability into China-US economic and trade cooperation and the global economy, Lin added.
