A good number of Chinese tech enterprises are showcasing their latest innovations in 6G communication technologies, humanoid robotics and artificial intelligence (AI) at the 2026 Mobile World Congress (MWC) held in Barcelona of Spain, the world's largest mobile-tech exhibition.
A series of cutting-edge technologies and products shown by Chinese firms indicates a significant acceleration in the commercialization of China's scientific and technological achievements, an industry analyst said, noting that China's development of new quality productive forces injects new impetus into global productivity by providing public technological products and development plans.
At MWC Barcelona 2026, Huawei Technologies Co unveiled a full suite of U6GHz products and solutions designed to fully unleash the potential of 5G-A, enable a smooth evolution towards 6G. "This suite provides the large capacity, low latency, and premium user experience required for the emerging mobile AI era," Huawei said in a press release sent to the Global Times on Monday.
Another Chinese communications giant, ZTE, told the Global Times that, during the four-day event, the company will unveil eight major breakthrough achievements spanning mobile network evolution, intelligent computing infrastructure, AI agent platforms, and device innovations.
In total, over 350 Chinese companies participated in this year's MWC, marking a significant increase from last year and covering the entire industrial chain including telecom operators, equipment suppliers, devices manufacturing, and core components, the Shanghai Securities Journal reported on Monday.
The expanding presence of Chinese companies at the industry event caught the attention of some foreign media outlets. South Korea's Chosun Daily noted on Sunday that, technologically, Chinese exhibitors are "shifting from cost-effective, fast-follower products to aggressive strategies aimed at leading with innovations."
Honor Co on Sunday showed off the capabilities of its Robot Phone, CNBC reported. "There is some novelty to it and they need that kind of innovation to show their capabilities," said Francisco Jeronimo, a vice president for data and analytics at IDC, per the report.
"Chinese tech enterprises' active participation in MWC reflects China's long-term investment and leading position in the mobile communications and demonstrates the country's accumulated strength in the high-tech sector over the years," Xiang Ligang, director-general of the Zhongguancun Modern Information Consumer Application Industry Technology Alliance, a telecom industry association, told the Global Times on Monday.
Citing the example of embodied AI, Xiang said that the technology was first included in the Government Work Report in 2025, but within just a year, China's robotics industry has transitioned from laboratory R&D to the stage of large-scale application. "What this shows is China's comprehensive sci-tech innovation capability," he said.
The booming development of China's new technologies and products such as telecommunications, electric vehicles, and AI are also bringing tangible opportunities to the world, Xiang said.
