Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson Mao Ning

In response to Japanese media inquiries regarding military strikes against Iran by the US and Israel that resulted in the death of Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, Chinese FM spokesperson Mao Ning stated on Monday that the attack and killing of Iran's top leader constitute a serious violation of Iran's sovereignty and security, and a flagrant breach of the purposes and principles of the UN Charter and the basic norms of international relations. China firmly opposes and strongly condemns these acts. We urge the immediate cessation of military actions to prevent further escalation of tensions and to jointly safeguard peace and stability in the Middle East and the world at large, said Mao.
