Maintaining an open, inclusive and mutually beneficial international trade environment serves the common interests of all countries, and all parties have a responsibility to play a constructive role in safeguarding the stability and security of global critical minerals supply chains, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun said on Friday.

Guo made the remarks when asked about a report noting that the US, Japan and the EU are set to announce plans in the coming weeks to lay the foundation for a trade agreement on critical minerals, and claiming that China has "threatened it would retaliate against the formation of a bloc that would target its exports."

"We oppose any country undermining the international economic and trade order through 'small-circle' rules," Guo said.
