Recently, Guo Ailun, also known as Allen Guo, and his family were allegedly involved in a large-scale fraud case by an acquaintance, with the amount involved nearing 10 million yuan ($1.38 million). Reporters from Xin Huanghe, a new media account affiliated with Jinan Daily, learned from relevant authorities in Shenyang in Northeast China’s Liaoning Province that Guo’s family has reported the incident to the police.

According to sources familiar with the matter, the suspect is a close friend of Guo who allegedly persuaded him to transfer nearly 10 million yuan under the pretext of an “investment opportunity,” according to Xin Huanghe.

After the transfers were made, the suspect reportedly lost contact, and the whereabouts of the funds remain unclear. Authorities have now formally opened an investigation, and the case is still under further inquiry, Xin Huanghe reported.

Xin Huanghe’s report was forwarded by many other media outlets, such as the Paper and the Hangzhou Daily.

Guo was born on November 14, 1993, in Liaoyang, Liaoning Province. He is a Chinese professional basketball player who plays as a point guard. He graduated from Northeastern University and currently plays for the Guangzhou Loong Lions in the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA), media reported.
