When asked to comment on a US State Department spokesperson's claim that the US side is concerned about relevant countries revoking overflight clearances for Taiwan regional leader Lai Ching-te, and such moves interfered with the safety and dignity of routine travel by Taiwan officials, and that international airspace management should not serve as political tool, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun said that there is only one China in the world, Taiwan is an inalienable part of China's territory, and the one-China principle is a fundamental norm governing international relations as well as a prevailing consensus of the international community. The principle reflects the will of the people, the trend of the times, and where justice lies.

Guo said the US side's remarks, which targeted China's legitimate actions to safeguard national sovereignty and territorial integrity while accusing relevant countries of upholding the one-China principle, amounted to a complete distortion of right and wrong. China firmly opposes and will never accept such comments. The Chinese side urges the US to abide by the one-China principle and the three China-US joint communiqués, stop using the Taiwan question to interfere in China's internal affairs, stop helping the Taiwan authorities maintain so-called "diplomatic ties," and stop sending wrong signals to "Taiwan independence" separatist forces.
