China respects the navigation rights enjoyed by all countries under international law, while firmly opposing any country's provocations and threats to China's sovereignty and security in the name of "freedom of navigation, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning said in response to a media inquiry for comments on that the Canadian authorities confirmed to the media that a Canadian warship transited the Taiwan Straits last week.
