Shanghai authorities on Wednesday further elaborated on the measures to support foreign companies after the city rolled out 28 support policies to cushion companies against the impact of the novel coronavirus pneumonia (NCP).

Shanghai Municipal Commission of Commerce made available all the 28 measures in English, aiming to allow foreign investors to better understand the related policies, Liu Min, deputy director of the commerce commission, said during a press conference on Wednesday. She added that a Japanese edition will also be released soon.

Besides, all the detailed policies will be posted on the commission’s official website and WeChat accounts.

The authorities have collected a list of 140 foreign companies, which can benefit from the supportive measures and a list of three foreign companies that have contributed to the fight against the NCP and are eligible for related fiscal support, Liu said.

The authorities have collected suggestions from the foreign companies to coordinate the restart of epidemic prevention productions at the earliest, said Liu, adding that they are also arranging major restaurants to provide group meals for employees of foreign companies.

The authorities are trying to solve foreign companies’ imminent problems such as raw material supply and transportation.

Shanghai on Saturday rolled out 28 measures to support companies amid the epidemic, including reduction or exemption of their rent and tax incentives. Foreign companies will be treated the same as other domestic enterprises, according to Shanghai authorities.
