As the nation mourns dozens of people killed by floods and the millions affected by it in Henan Province, the miraculous survival of a man in its capital city Zhengzhou after being trapped in an overwhelmed parking lot for more than 72 hours has touched netizens.

The man, Li Li, was found on Friday by the rescue team when he was lying above a vent in the parking lot. "It was too dark inside to find him," said a rescuer, adding that the depth of the water in the lot was more than two meters.

He said he heard a faint cry for help from Li, who later knocked the pipe near him to make his location easier to find.

He was later taken to the hospital, where he was diagnosed with rhabdomyolysis and abnormal liver function, but his life was not in danger.

Li was trapped in the flood when he was attempting to move his car in the parking lot on July 21.His wife said Li is a good swimmer so he could swim around to find the vent with 60-centimeter-high space to stay.

"He told me that he repeatedly fell asleep and woke up in between and he even drank the sewage to stay alive," she said.
