A hiker in South China's Guangdong Province who was confident to take a 7-day no-food challenge, proposed by some online friends, finally gave himself up and turned to the police for help after exhausting himself in the Beiling Mountain, reported Toutiao News on Wednesday.

The man was rescued by the police on July 22 at the hillside of the mountain.

By the time he was found, he had been there for two days after falling down from the mountain and was too weak to talk or move.

The police told the media that the man said he took a challenge proposed by some online friends that one can survive in the wild without eating for seven days.

Therefore, he only brought a backpack with a power bank and a jacket in it.

But the man lost his way during his trip and a typhoon that happened to pass by the area worsened his situation.

The man was later sent to the hospital and is in good condition now.
