Local police in Central China's Hunan announced on Thursday the punishment for 27 Chinese scam suspects who have been illegally staying in northern Myanmar for suspected of telecom fraud and rejected to return despite persuasion and warnings.

According to the announcement by public security agency in Loudi, a city in Central China's Hunan Province, the 27 will be put on a black list for dishonesty, which means service suspension of bank cards and mobile phone cards for five years.

The punishments also include freezing their household registrations and social sec urity cards, canceling all government subsidy and returning their children to the place they were born for attending schools.

Loudi has released two batches of 62 scam suspects who were illegally still staying in northern Myanmar in September and October, warning them of the punishments and compulsory measures if they refuse to go back to China and surrender themselves to the police.

To crack down on rampant cross-border telecom fraud, multiple Chinese cities have issued notices this year, taking multiple measures to return those involved in cross-border telecom fraud. The suspects were told that their household registration could be revoked if they chose not to return.

More than 400 fraud suspects have been persuaded to return in late October in Nanchong in Southwest China's Sichuan Province. The suspects were warned of serious negative impact to be put on their families' school and work opportunities if they didn't come back in time.
