China is willing to develop friendly and cooperative relations with all countries including Honduras based on the one-China principle, said the Chinese Foreign Ministry on Thursday, stressing that Taiwan secessionists forces are doomed to fail.

The remarks came in response to a Taiwan Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) warning to Honduras, whose president said it sought to establish formal relations with Beijing.

China is willing to develop friendly and cooperative relations with all countries around the world including Honduras based on the one-China principle, which will create more opportunities for the  Honduras economy and its people, said  spokesperson Wang Wenbin when asked whether Honduras will sever "diplomatic ties" with the Taiwan island.  

Wang emphasized that the one-China principle is the political foundation and prerequisite for China to establish diplomatic relations with all countries in the world.

The one-China principle puts at its core that Taiwan is an inalienable part of China's territory and the Government of the People's Republic of China is the sole legal government representing the whole of China.

"In recently years, countries including Panama, El Salvador, Dominica and Nicaragua have established or resumed diplomatic ties with China. After that, the rapid development of bilateral cooperation has strongly promoted these countries economic and social development and brought actual benefit to the people," said Wang. 

China welcomed on Wednesday the latest remarks by Honduran President Xiomara Castro, who said her country would begin planning for the "opening of official relations with the People's Republic of China."

As the Taiwan region's "foreign affairs authority" said it would do everything until the last minute to maintain the so-called diplomatic relations with Honduras, Wang said the island is an inseparable part of China's territory and that the secessionist DPP authority is doomed to fail.
