Local authorities in Pingdu, East China's Shandong Province on Wednesday announced the results of an investigation into a video that went viral of a worker urinating at a factory owned by leading beer maker Tsingtao Brewery Co. A loader surnamed Cui urinated in a truck on October 19, and the video was leaked by the truck driver surnamed Cai after the two had a verbal altercation.

The official post about the investigation result was trending on Sina Weibo as of press time with more than 23 million views.

After Cai arrived at the local factory on October 19, Cui and two other workers started unloading the malt at 12:20 pm. At 12:40 pm, Cai and Cui had a disagreement over moving the truck, according to an official Weibo post by the Pingdu authorities.

Cui then entered the truck at 1:04 pm to get the rest of the malt and started urinating. Cai later shot the video based on clips from the car recorder and uploaded it to his Douyin account.

Cui was detained by the local police office in Pingdu on October 22 for intentionally damaging property.

The investigation team immediately sealed all the contaminated malt and supervised cleanup treatment, while ensuring that the contaminated malt did not enter production.

The investigation team also conducted work to eliminate risks and dealt with responsible people in accordance with the law.

Tsingtao Brewery apologized on Wednesday on its official Weibo account, saying the incident reflected a loophole in the management of raw material transportation. The company said that it has strengthened the internal management and implemented rectification measures.
