China's doors remain open to all foreign enterprises, including US companies, Zhao Ping, a spokesperson for the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT), told a press conference on Monday, in responding to a question over Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang's remarks about continuing cooperation with China during his recent trip.

At the invitation of the CCPIT, Huang recently visited China. Chinese Vice Premier He Lifeng met with Huang, emphasizing that China welcomes more US-funded enterprises, including Nvidia, to deeply cultivate the Chinese market, the spokesperson noted.

Huang's visit drew great attention from China and abroad, as the trip came at an important moment, Zhao said. "China's attitude is clear. China's doors remain open to all foreign enterprises, including US companies, and the country's policies on using foreign investment have not changed and will not change," the spokesperson said.

"The China market is very important to us, and it's important to our growth," Huang told reporters during his visit to China, according to a video posted by China News Service.

Despite the complex and changing geopolitical situation, China's vast and resilient market remains an important growth engine for US companies, Kou Zhun, assistant researcher at the Chinese Academy of International Trade and Economic Cooperation under the Ministry of Commerce, told the Global Times.

"Many US companies continue to show strong willingness to seek growth by developing in the Chinese market, with their sales in China continuing to grow," Kou said, noting that foreign companies, including those from the US, will enjoy new opportunities in the Chinese market along with the country's continuous high-level opening-up.

The global business community is also voicing opposition to unilateralism and protectionism. During the 2nd APEC Business Advisory Council (ABAC) Meeting for 2025 held in Toronto on April 24, Asia-Pacific business communities including those from the US unanimously agreed to criticize the adverse impact of US tariffs on the Asia-Pacific economy and call for opposing unilateralism and protectionism in ABAC Letter to APEC Ministers, Zhao said.

Businesses must operate in accordance with economic principles, and no country's businesses can be exempt from this. Decoupling, setting trade barriers, and politicizing trade issues and abusing the security concept are widely opposed by the global business community, the spokesperson said.

China's certainty augurs well for an uncertain world. "Our policies are transparent, stable, and predictable. With a massive consumer market, the world's most complete industrial and supply chain systems, and a highly skilled workforce, China remains an engine for global growth," Zhao said.

Looking ahead, the CCPIT will continue to serve as a bridge for dialogue between China, the US, and the global business community, and jointly voice firm support for multilateral trade, and opposition to the abuse of tariffs and to unilateralism, Zhao said.

"It is hoped that the US side will meet the shared expectations of both Chinese and US as well as the international community, drop maximum pressure through weaponizing tariffs, and address each other's concerns through equal and constructive dialogue, so as to jointly promote the stable, healthy, and sustainable development of bilateral economic relations," Zhao added.
