As of 9 am on Tuesday, the explosion at a fireworks factory in Central China’s Hunan Province had left nine people dead, and 26 injured, Hunan Daily reported, citing information from the rescue command center at the site.
According to the rescue command center, the Hunan provincial government has initiated a higher-level investigation into the incident and established an investigation team to quickly determine the cause of the accident and hold those responsible accountable in accordance with the law, Hunan Daily reported.
Currently, the local authorities are conducting search and rescue efforts. Relevant work is underway to treat the injured, handle the aftermath for the deceased, and provide support to the families of the victims, according to the report.
During more than 20 hours of continuous rescue efforts, the rescue team used remote-controlled water cannons to extinguish the fire, minimizing close contact with personnel and preventing secondary disasters, according to the report.
China’s Ministry of Emergency Management said on Tuesday that it had dispatched a working team to Hunan Province following the explosion at a fireworks factory.
The ministry has urged relevant authorities to promptly identify all individuals affected by the explosion and to ensure that no secondary accidents occur. Efforts must be made to determine the cause of the explosion as soon as possible and hold those responsible accountable, according to the ministry.

explosion occurred at Shanzhou Fireworks Co, Ltd. in Linli county under Changde at approximately 8:23 am on Monday, Xinhua News Agency reported.
