A traffic collision involving a bus and multiple vehicles occurred in Shenyang, capital of Northeast China's Liaoning Province on Tuesday, resulting in 16 injuries and two fatalities.
At 7:55 pm on Tuesday, a traffic accident involving a bus colliding with multiple vehicles occurred near Lianhe Road in Dadong district in Shenyang.
The accident left 18 people injured, all of whom were immediately rushed to hospitals for treatment. Among them, two died despite all medical efforts, said the statement.
The 52-year-old bus driver, surnamed Wang, was apprehended at the scene. Toxicology tests have ruled out both drunk driving and drug-related impairment as contributing factors, the police said.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the driver lost control of the bus due to improper maneuvering while attempting to avoid pedestrians at the accident site, according to the statement.
Currently, on-site emergency response operations have been concluded, and traffic flow has fully resumed to normal, the statement said.
