Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun
When asked to comment on the positive evaluation on the development of relations between China and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) during the Council of Foreign Ministers of the OIC, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun said on Tuesday that the session acknowledged China's efforts to protect Muslim communities, appreciated the comprehensive development of China's relations with Islamic countries, and looked forward to further strengthening the cooperation between the OIC and China.
This is the sixth consecutive time that a resolution of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the OIC has included a text on friendship with China, and China welcomes this action, Guo said.
The 51st session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the OIC was held from June 21-22.
The OIC is the symbol of solidarity of Islamic countries, and a bridge to promote the development of relations between China and Islamic countries, Guo said.
In recent years, China has deepened mutual trust with Islamic countries and the OIC, expanded cooperation in various fields, strengthened civilization exchanges and achieved fruitful results. Representatives of the OIC and its member states have visited China many times and visited Xinjiang, gaining a better understanding of China's ethnic and religious policies and the construction and development of Xinjiang, and making positive comments, Guo said.
Guo added that China will continue to make joint efforts with Islamic countries and the OIC to push forward the relations.
