The Shaolin Temple management office on Saturday denied online rumors that 30 monks had resigned.

In a statement, the temple said recent online claims that 30 monks had resigned were false, urging the public not to believe or spread rumors.

Shi Yongxin, the former abbot of the Shaolin Temple, the birthplace of Shaolin kung fu, is under investigation by multiple departments over alleged criminal offenses.
