China will stage a gala at the Great Hall of the People on the evening of September 3, to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People's War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War, officials said at a press conference on Thursday.
The announcement was made during the first press conference held by the news center for the commemorative activities, which detailed preparations for the upcoming events.
Attendees will include Party and state leaders, war veterans, representatives of merit and honor recipients, and grassroots public representatives, according to the officials.
Titled "Remember History, Honor Martyrs, Cherish Peace, and Forge Ahead," the gala will center on key historical nodes and moments that saw China as the main battlefield in the East theater during the world anti-fascist war.
It will combine music, dance, situational drama and other stage art forms to reflect the Chinese people's emotional connection to this history, and use various forms of expression such as multimedia and immersive sound effects to recreate touching historical scenarios.
A large number of young artists will take the lead in the gala's creation and performance.
Most of the work in directing, music composition and other areas will be undertaken by post-1980s artists, while post-1990s and post-2000s performers will form the main cast.
According to officials, as of now, the gala has entered the final integration stage after multiple rounds of revisions and evaluations.
