Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic expressed his gratitude to Chinese President Xi Jinping and the Chinese people for their "sincere friendship" toward Serbia, in a post on his Facebook page in Serbian language on Wednesday following the conclusion of China's grand V-Day commemorations, adding that "China has always stood by Serbia, especially in difficult times. Serbia and the Serbian people will never forget this!"
The post was accompanied with photos of him warmly shaking hands with President Xi, alongside images of their spouses also exchanging handshakes.
Vucic arrived in Beijing on Tuesday for the commemorations marking the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People's War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War, according to the Xinhua News Agency.
More than 20 foreign leaders from around the world attended the event, including Russian President Vladimir Putin, top leader of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) Kim Jong Un, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko, Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto, and Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico.
