China sends delegation, Y-20 transport aircraft to retrieve CPV martyrs' remains from S.Korea

A high-level Chinese delegation, along with the People's Liberation Army (PLA) guard of honor and a Y-20 transport aircraft, will head to South Korea on Wednesday to carry out the task of handovering remains and related items of 12th batch of Chinese People's Volunteers (CPV) martyrs who lost their lives during the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea, said Li Jingxian, an official at the Ministry of Veterans Affairs, at a press conference on Tuesday.

Li announced that on Thursday morning, a casket ceremony and the signing of the handover documents will take place at the temporary resting place for the remains of the CPV martyrs in Incheon, South Korea.

On Friday morning, at the tarmac of Incheon International Airport in South Korea, the South Korean side will hand over the remains of the CPV martyrs to the Chinese side. A memorial ceremony will be held by the Chinese delegation and staffs from the Chinese embassy in South Korea, according to Li. 

Subsequently, the Chinese delegation will escort the remains back to China. A grand welcoming ceremony will be held at the Taoxian international airport in Shenyang, Northeast China's Liaoning Province, around 11:30 am.

On Saturday morning at 10:00 am, a solemn burial ceremony will take place at the CPV martyrs' cemetery in Shenyang, said Li.
