Chen Binhua, spokesperson for the State Council Taiwan Affairs Office
In response to a question about fallacy made by Taiwan's regional leader Lai Ching-te in an interview with a US broadcasting program in which he once again promulgated the "new two-state theory" of "mutual non-subordination between the two sides of the Taiwan Straits, Chen Binhua, spokesperson for the State Council Taiwan Affairs Office, slammed Lai as once again distorting the truth, making outrageous claims, and hyped the "mainland threat."
The secessionist regional leader is peddling the separatist fallacy of "Taiwan independence," advocating for "independence through military means" and "relying on external forces for independence," while deceiving the public on the island and international opinion.
This fully exposes his nature as "destroyer of cross-Straits peace" and a "creator of crisis in the Taiwan Straits," Chen said.
During the interview, Lai falsely claimed that military exercises conducted by mainland undermine peace and stability in the "Indo-Pacific" region, and advocated an increase in Taiwan region's military spending and collaboration with the so-called "democratic camp" to exert "deterrence."
Since Lai took office more than a year ago, he has gone against the mainstream public opinion in Taiwan region, stubbornly adhering to a "Taiwan independence" stance, vigorously promulgating separatist rhetoric, and continuously inciting "anti-China" sentiments, said the spokesperson, noting that this has escalated cross-Straits tensions and heightened confrontations, pushing Taiwan island into a precarious situation. At the same time, he has shown an unprincipled inclination to pander to foreign powers and has recklessly squandered public resources. By submitting to external forces and compromising Taiwan region's interests, he has severely harmed the livelihoods of local businesses and people, jeopardizing island's economic lifeline and future development prospects, the spokesperson said.
Taiwan is an inseparable part of China's territory, and both the mainland and Taiwan belong to one China, which is beyond question of history and legal facts, and cross-Straits status quo that is indisputable, Chen said.
We cherish peace, but we will never tolerate the separatism of "Taiwan independence" and will not stand by while "Taiwan independence" separatist forces sell out and destroy Taiwan island. We have firm will, strong determination, and powerful capability to crush all acts of "Taiwan independence" and external interference, safeguard national sovereignty and territorial integrity, and protect the safety and well-being of the people of Taiwan island, Chen noted.
The spokesperson warned that Lai and the DPP authorities that the trend of unification is unstoppable, that "relying on external forces to seek independence" is destined to fail, and that "using military means to seek independence" will accelerate their own demise.
Any actions that rely on external forces will only bring humiliation upon themselves, and any traitors to the nation will face just judgment. Any schemes to divide the motherland will be met with resolute countermeasures. Unification will surely prevail, "Taiwan independence" will surely perish, Chen said.
Lai and the "Taiwan independence" separatist forces are merely like ants shaking a tree, destined to be swept into the dustbin of history, Chen added.
