In response to media reports that another Chinese citizen was recently subjected to unwarranted interrogation, detention, and deportation by US authorities upon entry, with their personal freedom restricted for over 48 hours, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun said on Friday that despite China's repeated solemn representations, relevant US departments have continued to harass, interrogate, and deport Chinese citizens without cause, using rough law enforcement methods that seriously infringe upon the legitimate rights and personal dignity of those involved and severely disrupt normal people-to-people exchanges between the two countries.

China expresses strong dissatisfaction and firm opposition to such actions, Guo said, urging US law enforcement agencies to correct their practices immediately, return to the right track of implementing the important consensus reached by the two heads of state and promoting friendly exchanges between the two peoples, and take effective measures to prevent similar incidents from recurring. He added that China will continue to resolutely safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of its citizens overseas and once again reminded those traveling to the US to remain alert to relevant risks.
