 China supports Cambodia and Thailand in properly handling and resolving border disputes through dialogue and consultation, and supports Malaysia in playing its role as the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Chair, the Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian said on Friday, in response to an inquiry regarding whether China would send representatives to attend the Thailand-Cambodia Peace Deal Signing, which reports said that the US has demanded the exclusion of Chinese officials, and the ASEAN Summit in Malaysia on October 27.

Lin said as inseparable neighbors, China hopes that Cambodia and Thailand will adhere to equal consultation, mutual understanding, meet each other halfway, and find a lasting solution acceptable to both sides. 

He said that since the outbreak of the border conflict between Cambodia and Thailand, China has actively promoted peace and facilitated dialogue in its own way, adding that China is and will continue to play a constructive role in helping the two sides rebuild mutual trust, consolidate the ceasefire, and peacefully resolve the dispute.
