Accompanied by zookeepers and veterinarians, 13 giant pandas from the Wolong National Nature Reserve and Dujiangyan Base of the China Conservation and Research Center for the Giant Panda were relocated to the Mianyang giant panda base on Tuesday. The Mianyang base has now entered its trial operation phase and will open to the public after these giant pandas have passed the adaptation period, according to the official WeChat account of China Conservation and Research Center for the Giant Panda.

To ensure their smooth arrival, the giant panda center formulated and implemented comprehensive transportation and epidemic prevention plans. At 8 am on Tuesday, the transport convoy departed from the Dujiangyan base and arrived at the Mianyang base at 10:23 am.

In preparation for the pandas' arrival, the Mianyang base has completed arrangement for the panda enclosures, environmental enrichment, food supplies and staffing in advance. During the pandas' adaptation period, zookeepers and veterinarians will closely monitor the health status of the giant pandas through daily feeding, behavioral observation and 24-hour monitoring.

The person in charge of the Mianyang base stated that the base has more than 50 panda enclosures with beautiful surroundings that meet the requirements for panda care.

According to the center, the Mianyang base will leverage scientific, technological and geographic advantages of the city, optimize the layout of giant panda protection and research, promote the protection of the giant panda population in the Minshan Mountains, and promote and contribute to the high-quality development of China's giant panda conservation efforts.
