In response to media inquiry about Taiwan regional official's remarks on Wednesday that China had set many "additional conditions" for Chinese Taipei's participation in next year's Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) meeting, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning stated that participating in APEC as a regional economy under the one-China principle and complying with the relevant provisions and established practices under APEC's memorandum of understanding are the political prerequisite for Chinese Taipei to take part in APEC. "China's position on this issue is clear and firm," the spokesperson said.
