In order to implement the consensuses between China and US in their economic and trade talks in Kuala Lumpur, China's Ministry of Transport announced on Monday the suspension of charging special port fees on US chips starting from 1:01 pm Monday for one year, which is a synchronous move with the US' suspension of its action under the Section 301 investigation against China's maritime, logistics, and shipbuilding sectors, according to the ministry's website.
In the meantime, the Ministry of Transport also suspends its
No.59 document regarding measures to charge special port fees on ships owned or operated by US enterprises, organizations and individuals, as well as a No.55 document on the launch of a probe into how the US Section 301 investigation affects the security and development interests of China's shipping and shipbuilding sectors, as well as related industrial and supply chains, it said.
On Sunday (US time), the Office of the US Trade Representative (USTR) announced the suspension of the action in the Section 301 Investigation of China's Targeting of the Maritime, Logistics, and Shipbuilding Sectors for Dominance.
The action will be suspended for one year, and as of 12:01 am Eastern Standard Time on Monday (US time).
